Virginia National Guard Celebrates 419 Years of Service

The Virginia National Guard marked its 419th birthday during a ceremony in Richmond on May 14, 2026. The event featured remarks from Governor Abigail Spanberger, Secretary of Veterans and Defense Affairs Timothy P. Williams, and Maj. Gen. James W. Ring, recognizing the Guard’s long history of service dating back to 1607 at Jamestown.
