Avio Breaks Ground on Major Manufacturing Facility in Pittsylvania County

Avio USA has broken ground on a major new manufacturing facility in Hurt, Virginia, bringing one of the largest economic development projects in Southside Virginia’s history to Pittsylvania County. The approximately 900,000-square-foot facility is expected to create 1,500 jobs, with Avio leaders citing the region’s workforce and access to trade as key reasons for choosing Virginia. The company plans to manufacture commercial and military propulsion systems at the site, with operations expected to begin in 2028.
