King George High School DECA Supports Virginia’s Veterans
DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) is a national co-curricular student organization at King George High School that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management. Through competitive events, leadership development, community service, and partnerships with local businesses, DECA enhances classroom learning with real-world experience.
The King George High School DECA chapter is one of the larger and most active student organizations on campus. Open to students enrolled in marketing and related courses, members participate in competitions, leadership activities, fundraisers, and community service projects while applying classroom knowledge to real business challenges.
This year, King George DECA students organized, managed, and facilitated a local 5K community run, donating all proceeds to the Virginia Veterans Services Foundation. Their efforts reflect a strong commitment to service, leadership, and community impact.
Foundation Board Chairman, Joel Griffin had the opportunity to meet with DECA members and student officers to personally thank them for their dedication to supporting Virginia’s veteran population. The Foundation is grateful for their hard work and for the meaningful example they set through their support of veterans and their families.
