VSF Chairman Joel Griffin Attends Iraq AUMF Recognition Event in Washington, D.C.

On January 13, 2026, Virginia Veterans Services Foundation Chairman Joel Griffin attended a bipartisan recognition event at the Russell Senate Office Building in Washington, D.C., held in the Kennedy Caucus Room, to mark the official end of the Iraq War’s Authorizations for Use of Military Force (AUMFs).

The event was co-hosted by Senator Tim Kaine (VA) and Senator Todd Young (IN), co-patrons of the legislation that formally repealed the Iraq AUMFs. Iraq War veterans from across the country were in attendance to recognize this historic moment and reflect on the service and sacrifice of those who served.

Chairman Griffin was honored to represent the Foundation and stand alongside veterans and lawmakers in acknowledging this important milestone.
