Youth Leadership in Service: King George DECA Supports Veterans
The Virginia Veterans Services Foundation is grateful to the King George High School DECA chapter for its recent support of Virginia’s veterans. The students hosted a community 5K, with all proceeds donated to the Foundation, demonstrating leadership through service.

VSF Chairman Joel Griffin personally attended and received the donation, highlighting the meaningful connection between these young leaders and the veteran community they chose to support. King George DECA’s efforts reflect the impact students can make when they come together in service of others.

Chairman Griffin Represents VSF at Iraq War Recognition Ceremony
On Tuesday, January 13, VSF Chairman Joel Griffin attended a bipartisan recognition ceremony at the Russell Senate Office Building in Washington, D.C., held in the Kennedy Caucus Room. Chairman Griffin represented the Virginia Veterans Services Foundation at the event, which marked the official end of the Iraq War.

The legislation recognizing the end of the conflict was co-sponsored by Senator Tim Kaine of Virginia and Senator Todd Young of Indiana. The ceremony brought together lawmakers and Iraq War veterans from across the country to acknowledge the significance of this historic moment and to honor those who served.

Chairman Griffin’s participation in this national recognition, along with his recent engagement with student-led community efforts in King George County, reflects the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to being present where veterans are honored, supported, and remembered.

A Shared Commitment to Those Who Served
Whether through the leadership of young students in King George County or the recognition of Iraq War veterans on the national stage, these efforts remind us that supporting veterans is a shared responsibility across generations. The Virginia Veterans Services Foundation is proud to be part of these moments that honor service, sacrifice, and community.
